BIOTOP held an Open Day at the UK’s first Public Natural Swimming Pool at King’s Cross Pond Club, London on Thursday 23 June.
The weather in London on the day was terrible, with thunder storms and over 40mm of rain falling in an hour, causing a large amount of flash flooding and a large amount of disruption to road and rail travel across London.
Despite this, the Open Event went ahead and was visited by many landscape architects, architects, garden designers and students, who were all able to meet with BIOTOP’s four UK Partners -Kingcombe Aquacare Ltd, who built the King’s Cross Pond, Woodhouse Natural Pools, Poolscape Ltd and Ensata.
Visitors watched several presentations throughout the day given by Sarah Murch of Ensata, who highlighted the range of BIOTOP pools available from the naturalistic through to more contemporary Living Pool designs.
Several visitors also took the opportunity to swim in the King’s Cross Pond, which was launched back in Spring 2015 and is proving extremely popular with swimmers in London.
Although more heavy rain meant a slightly early finish for the event, everyone who attended throughout the day enjoyed the event and hearing about the latest developments in natural pool design and technology.
