A Sustainable Compound in the Hudson Valley

In the Hudson Valley, just two hours north of New York City, there is an unusual compound of passive house, sauna tower, 19th century barn and, a shimmering jewel in the midst of the compound, a natural swimming pool. BarlisWedlick Architecture firm designed the grounds and BIOTOP’s vendor in Connecticut implemented the swimming pool. Surrounding the pool is the quaint countryside of the Hudson Valley, rolling hills, deciduous trees and prairie land. The 19th century barn is situated beside the pool. Down a few steps and you can walk across a lily-padded waterway. Or dive from a small platform that is levered out over the pool body. At the opposite end of the pool is a larger deck with lounge chairs; one would never know that beneath their feet lies the hatch to an equipment room. Dive into the crystal clear water of this concrete pool colored by a cool gray plaster finish.
