Fully accessible

The challenge with this project was to construct a handicapped-accessible, barrier-free pool, since the client is a wheelchair paraplegic. The existing swimming pool was removed and a new design taking the client’s handicap into consideration was created. The Living-Pool is architecturally straightforward, with clear lines and borders defining the ensemble. The water is heated by a heat exchanger inside the house, making the pool usable year-round. A pool-lift was integrated, and the pool cover retracts underneath a walkable surface of large granite slabs that can be removed if necessary. The combination with modern stainless steel elements like the shower, lift and handrail continue the straightforward style of the garden, and a lily pond was added as an additional design element.
