A Mini-Pool in the Atrium

Perfectly functioning biological processes and excellent water quality are possible no matter the size of the pool. The greater the divergence from 1:1 in the surface area ratio between the swimming area and the regeneration zone, and the smaller the pool, the more extensive the filter equipment has to be in order to properly support the biological regeneration zone. This is how dreams can come true, including the dream these homeowners, who had wished to have a Natural Pool built in the nearly 20 m² of space in their atrium, had previously thought to be impossible. The proportions of the pool basin were determined by the layout of the facade. The pool itself lies nestled like a mirror in a wooden frame. The plant filter interrupts the strict orthogonal contours of the design and accounts for one third of the water volume. The luxuriant greenery in the plant filter will always function as a clear counterpoint, with the dark gray color of the liner giving the illusion of increased depth in the swimming area. The stainless steel cover panel reflects the light and enhances the effect, making the wooden deck appear as if it were floating. The darker the water surface, the more pronounced its reflective properties. The result is a theatrical interplay where nature sets the stage.
