Winners selected from 60 international projects submitted

During the Partner meeting on 18 November at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Vienna, Biotop selected the best natural pool and swimming pond projects for the Biotop Design Award. 23 partners from 6 nations took part in the well-established competition. An eleven-member jury of experts and the Partners chose the winners in three categories from a total of 60 projects submitted. In “Conversion & Renovation”, the design concept of the Belgian company Tuinen Brouckaert convinced the jury. The garden and landscape architects of the Koninklijke Ginkel Groep, based in the Netherlands, were given awards twice: for the most beautiful Swimming Pond and for the most extraordinary Living Pool. “With the Design Award, we select the best natural pool projects of our partners every year. We place particular emphasis on originality, design quality, craftsmanship and the overall atmospheric impression,” explains Jasmin Nöbl, Managing Director of Biotop GmbH.

At this year’s Biotop Design Award, the expert jury, consisting of architects, landscape planners and trade journalists, made the pre-selection from a total of 60 submissions in the categories Living Pool, Swimming Pond and Conversion & Renovation. The twelve finalists had to face the strict judgement of the Biotop Partners in the final round, and present their projects to them. The respective winners convinced with extraordinary architectural solutions and professional implementation of the natural pools and swimming ponds.
