Biotop presented the Design Award to the best natural pool and Swimming Pond projects from its international partners at its annual partner meeting, which took place in Mallorca from 14 to 15 November. Partner companies from six nations submitted a total of 35 projects for the competition. The expert jury awarded the prize for the most unusual Swimming Pond to the ‘Marlow Nature pool’ project by Ellicar Pools (UK). The indoor pool concept ‘Mountain Sky‘ (Berghimmel) by Garten Wammes (Austria) won in the Living Pool category. P.G.G. Potsdamer Garten Gestaltung GmbH (Germany) came out on top as the outstanding project in the Remodelling & Refurbishment category with its project ‘From Chlorine to Nature’. Biotop Managing Director Marion Hanek is proud of the special achievements of the partners: ‘The Design Award stands for innovative pool facilities and architectural solutions at the highest level. The award-winning projects show how quality of life can be combined with design standards and sustainability’.
This year, Biotop invited its partners to Mallorca to honour the best Swimming Pond and Living Pool projects at the annual conference. An expert jury of architects, landscape planners and specialised journalists selected the most beautiful and unusual concepts from the natural pool projects submitted. The judging took place in three categories: Living Pool, Swimming Pond and Conversion & Renovation. The jury paid particular attention to design, architecture and execution. The final was contested by twelve finalists from the UK, Germany, Belgium and Austria. In addition, the 90 participants at the Partners Meeting chose their favourite from all the projects submitted. This time, the ‘Partners 1st Choice Award’ also went to Ellicar Pools for the ‘Marlow Nature pool’ project, which impressed with its exceptional design.
Ellicar Pools was not only voted the favourite of all partners, but also won the prize for the most beautiful Swimming Pond. The modern, circular Swimming Pond has a swimming zone with a diameter of 6.5 metres, which continues in concentric circles in the regeneration zone and matching bank planting. A particular challenge during construction was the customised pool lining, which consists of 180 individual parts.

The jury chose the "Berghimmel Pool" by Garten Wammes as the most outstanding Living Pool project. This 17 square metre indoor living pool is located in the heart of the Alps directly on the ski slope and blends harmoniously into the alpine surroundings thanks to its natural-coloured ceramic lining.

Schleitzer baut Gärten came in second place with a monobloc prefabricated pool made from granite of local origin. The surface of the fine stone emphasises the natural colour of the water and is reminiscent of the look of a mountain lake. Fuchs baut Gärten came third with a Living Pool installation and a Bavarian basin for the Hotel Bergeblick in Bad Tölz. Garten Schwiening came fourth with a sustainable Living Pool for a family garden in the Netherlands.
